Make the Connection In my real job, I am on the phone for 8 hours so most of the time the last thing I want to do when I get home from work is call people. It is much easier in today’s modern age to send an email. We can type what we want, put in all the cute little J that we want…right….but does that really say what is going on in your heart…when you are happy it shows in your voice…in your inflection….in your tone. When you are sad the sighs and pauses can speak more than words. So in a split second I was on the phone calling my parents (both sets)…listening to their voices and their tone…and they were listening to me. Life goes too fast to be bogged down in email and text messaging. There is nothing like a note to a friend or a call to check in. I think we sometimes loose track of our friends, our loved ones, people who touch our lives. We get so hung up in the here and now…the instant gratification…the email websurfing text messaging world that spins around us that it is hard to pull that all in and relax and listen. It also saves your fingers from “text-itis” (my new catch phrase for the stiffness that I feel in my fingers when I have been text messaging people too much the day before). So the next time you are feeling like you are unconnected with your friends or family, walk away from the computer and pick up the phone. You will be glad you did….. Until next time…… Krystel Belle-Rose |
